Dela Cruz Leaves Gov’s Office for Dept. of Education

First Jim Boersema, now Donalyn Dela Cruz.
Dela Cruz, Gov. Neil Abercrombie’s chief spokeswoman, will leave her post at the end of the month and become the new director of communications at the Hawaii Department of Education.
Dela Cruz’s departure follows that of Boersema, her former boss, who left last month after a year as the governor’s communications director. The governor’s administration continues to be somewhat of a revolving door.
Dela Cruz served as the Abercrombie’s press secretary since he took office. In the interim, Deputy Chief of Staff Blake Oshiro will oversee communications.
The governor’s press release states that at the Department of Education, Dela Cruz will include “incorporating the superintendent of schools into the Governor’s cabinet,” among other tasks. She’ll also presumably focus on getting Hawaii’s Race to the Top program back on track.
