Karsten Thot Bridge To Partially Reopen on Monday
The state Department of Transportation says the Karsten Thot Bridge in Wahiawa will be open for northbound passenger traffic starting Monday. But only from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. And only on weekdays.
The southbound (toward Honolulu) lane will still be available for morning commuters from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m. on weekdays.
The DOT says “critical structural work” is almost done but there is more sandblasting and painting needed. Officials are still hoping to fully re-open the entire bridge by the end of October.
The 80-year-old steel bridge has been closed to traffic for weeks, causing snarls for people trying to get to and from the North Shore.
