Big Island Drought Is Stalling Cattle Industry

The drought is taking its toll on new possibilities for the Hawaii cattle business on the Big Island. New initiatives to produce more beef for the islands — we send most of our cattle to the mainland rather than process it here — are having trouble taking off because drought is effecting the amount of grazing land that is available.
