Cayetano’s New Bus Plan Soon to be Unveiled
From our Inside Honolulu blog:
Former Hawaii Gov. Ben Cayetano was in Los Angeles on Monday meeting with transportation officials about the metro area’s bus rapid transit system.
If Cayetano is elected as Honolulu’s mayor, he has said BRT is his alternative to the $5.26 billion rail project that he wants to sink.
Cayetano seems to be updating his transportation plan in light of the upcoming election. He’s running against pro-rail candidate Kirk Caldwell, and has been offering BRT as a better solution to cut down on traffic and cost.
We’ve reported before on what Cayetano’s original BRT plan includes.
I’ve also blogged about the national debate involving BRT over rail.
Cayetano plans to reveal his most up-to-date transportation plan after his visit to L.A.
