State Land Board Revokes Hawaii Kayak Tour Company’s Permit After NY Teen’s Death
That’s according to this AP report in The Washington Post:
The Hawaii Board of Land and Natural Resources has revoked a permit for the kayak tour company that led a group of teens when one from New York was swept out to sea on the Big Island.
A lawyer for Hawaii Pack and Paddle tried to postpone Friday’s decision. Lawyer Bob Frame says the teens pressured the guides to deviate from the route but he needs more time to find out what happened.

In a news release, the state said the company had violated permit conditions on July 4, taking on too many customers per tour, running the tour longer than permitted and going out of bounds.
