5:05 p.m. — Windward Voters Pick Gabbard

Most of the Windward residents we caught up with at polling sites Saturday voted for 2nd Congressional District candidate Tulsi Gabbard.
Bryan Costa, a 29-year-old Democrat, said that he voted for Gabbard because he doesn’t like Mufi Hannemann.
“I don’t care for Mufi,” the Waimanalo resident said. “I’m against rail, and I’m a small business owner and anti-union. Mufi has all the union support.”
Costa doesn’t think Gabbard will win. But he said that even if she doesn’t, this race has become her “stepping stone” into the national political scene.
Enchanted Lake Democratic resident Shannon Kaopua, 44, voted for Gabbard because he “wanted to try something different.”
Another Enchanted Lake resident, 24-year-old Christa Conry, said chose Gabbard because she likes to support “women in leadership positions.”
Conry also said she supported Gabbard’s “local values” and stance on the war in Afghanistan.
